Expedia Cruises’ Top Franchisees Rewarded with Spectacular Nile River Cruise

Expedia Cruises recently celebrated its top-performing Franchisees with a prestigious reward trip: a breathtaking 7-night journey down the Nile River. The Presidents Circle Diamond Reward Trip is an annual event and this year it was held from September 18-25, 2025. The event brought together over 70 guests, including high-achieving franchisees, the Expedia Cruises leadership team, and senior executives from the world’s leading travel suppliers.

This exclusive event celebrates the remarkable success within our network and reinforces our core belief: to provide the best travel advice, you must experience the world firsthand. This year’s journey aboard the luxurious AmaLilia was graciously hosted by founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst and showcased the power of partnership, connection, and exploration.

Experiencing Warm Hospitality in Ancient Lands

The adventure began before the cruise even set sail, wrapped in the legendary warmth of Middle Eastern hospitality. Many attendees opted for a pre-cruise land tour through Jordan, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Every encounter was marked by warmth and genuine care, from friendly guides sharing stories of Petra to locals who greeted the group with smiles and mint tea. Their pride in their country and eagerness to share its beauty created a deep sense of connection.

This four-night extension included visits to the ancient Roman ruins of Jerash, a float in the mineral-rich Dead Sea, and an exploration of the awe-inspiring, rock-carved city of Petra. The experience was capped with a thrilling Jeep tour through the stunning desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. A local driver navigated the rugged terrain with impressive skill, expertly steering across dunes and rocky passes with remarkable confidence, turning the ride into an adventure that felt safe yet exhilarating.

From there, the group embarked on their Nile River cruise from Luxor, Egypt. The AmaLilia served as a floating hotel, providing unparalleled comfort and service as it navigated one of the world’s most historic waterways. The Egyptian crew embodied the same gracious spirit found in Jordan, going above and beyond to make every moment special, from thoughtful service on board to heartfelt farewells that felt like leaving family.

Andrea Devisser, an Expedia Cruises Franchisee from Chilliwack, BC, highlighted the exceptional service that defined the trip. “What really stood out to me was how AmaWaterways made the entire experience feel seamless,” she shared. “The way they managed the logistics, the care, and all the little details went far beyond ordinary. I felt safe and cared for every step of the way … And it’s why I feel so confident encouraging others to step out and take these journeys for themselves.”

Sights and Experiences Along the Nile

The itinerary was a carefully curated exploration of Egypt’s most iconic treasures. Daily port visits allowed guests to immerse themselves in thousands of years of history. More than just seeing the sights, the trip was a chance to experience the welcoming culture of the region. The people of both Jordan and Egypt stood out not only for their incredible history and landscapes but for their character—welcoming, kind, and eager to ensure visitors felt at home. Together, they made the region one of the most rewarding destinations to explore.

Key highlights of the cruise included:

  • Valley of the Kings: A visit to the legendary necropolis of pharaohs, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun.
  • Historic Temples: Explorations of the grand Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the impressive Temple of Horus at Edfu, and the beautiful Philae Temple.
  • Abu Simbel: An excursion to the colossal rock-cut temples of Ramesses II.
  • Cultural Immersion: Guests enjoyed a motorboat visit to a traditional Nubian village, sailed on a classic felucca around Elephantine Island, and enjoyed a spectacular high tea at sunset at the legendary Cataract Hotel.
  • Cairo and the Pyramids: The journey concluded with a flight to Cairo for a final, unforgettable visit to the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramids of Giza and the recently opened Grand Egyptian Museum.

Forging Powerful Connections

More than just a vacation, the Presidents Circle trip is a vital opportunity for connection and collaboration. This year’s group included 15 Presidents Circle Diamond Franchisees and 8 Presidents Circle Platinum Franchisees, representing the highest levels of achievement.

They were joined by 13 esteemed supply partners, with senior executives from AmaWaterways, Azamara, Carnival Cruise Line, Globus Family of Brands, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn, and Sunwing.

Eric Tan, Director of Communications & Incentives at an Expedia Cruises Franchisee in Vancouver, BC, reflected on the group’s growth and the trip’s deeper meaning. “It is almost unfathomable to think about the real intelligence that had to exist 4,500 years ago that had built the Pyramids of Giza… Perhaps, our world today may need the same Stronger, Together focus, if humanity hopes to be here for another 4,500 years, for them to look back at us, in the same light.”

This gathering of industry leaders creates a unique environment for our Franchisees. Whether sharing insights during an excursion, networking over cocktails, or building relationships at dinner, franchisees gain invaluable face time with key decision-makers. Every moment is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and strengthen the partnerships that drive our collective success.

Erin Douglas, Senior Vice President of Trade Sales at MSC Cruises, noted the powerful synergy. “This journey was a powerful reminder that when passionate, driven individuals unite with a common purpose, the possibilities are limitless,” she stated. “Just as the ancient Egyptians built monuments that have stood the test of time, our collective efforts in this industry are building something lasting — thriving businesses that create unforgettable travel experiences for clients around the world.”

Shawn Tubman, Senior Vice President Sales and Trade Marketing, North America commented on how this event creates a deeper level of relationship between franchisees and our preferred suppliers, “I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this year’s President’s Circle event.  Ours is a relationship based business, and the key to our mutual success is knowing as much as possible about each other’s organizations, objectives, challenges and opportunities.  Being a part of such an intimate event allows each of us to really get to know each other on a professional level, but more so, on a very personal level, spending quality time together and sharing amazing experiences.  I appreciate Matthew, Aeleen, John, Mike and Lyndsay as well as Kristin and Rudy and the whole Amadeus Waterways team for hosting such a unique and rewarding event.”
